1. Newblog2011: 08/03/11 Ford dealer/Employee of Vermont State Hospital/Harassment at the Department of Libraries in Montpelier
As of yesterday, 08/02/11:
Ford dealer: It’s been a few days that the local Ford dealer has had the boat on its front lawn hitched up to a green truck. There’s a red car next to that set-up.
There’s a sign in the window on the other side of the building that says “Fast Lube” and “We Appreciate Your Business.”
There are still orange, “Caution” road cones around the premises.
As I’ve said before, no matter whom it is that someone is trying to degrade, that kind of thing is too degrading. All of the arguments that I’ve made about why I don’t want to be treated that way also apply to other people; I’ve said that nobody should be getting treated that way, and that’s what I meant.
Psychiatric Technician: An employee of the Vermont State Hospital who used to hassle me a lot when I was there over the winter of 2010-2011 lives right on the road between Barre and Montpelier. A couple of days ago, I was walking past the house and one of her dogs ran to the edge of her lawn and stood there, barking ferociously. It’s a small dog, so its version of a ferocious bark isn’t as fearsome as other dogs’ might be; however, it wasn’t on a leash, and I can’t imagine that being bitten by it would be all that much fun.
It’s jump of several feet from the edge of their lawn to the sidewalk, which is probably why the dog confined itself to barking. The woman who is the employee of VSH and a man who I guess is her husband yelled at the dog for a while, trying to get it to back off. I had stopped walking as soon as the dog had run toward me and started barking; I figured that running might induce it to chase me. They got the dog under control. The VSH employee looked right at me with an expression on her face that I couldn’t read at the time.
I passed by her house again last night on my way back to Barre. She’d added an orange, “Caution” road cone to her lawn.

It's a few minutes past 8:00 a.m.. I've been at the computer at the Department of Libaries for about 10 minutes. A woman about to leave the room with a guy said, loudly enough for me to hear from the other side of the room "Do they still have snakes in their pond?"
This is what state employees get paid to spend their time on?
