4. Newblog2011: 09/26/11 At and around the Boston Public Library: Losing my temper ungracefully
There was an orange, Caution road cone on the front grounds of the Boston Public Library this morning, where there wasn’t any pretense of construction or legitimate need for it.
I picked it up and threw it at the front steps of the library, to the left of the entrance, where it fell and lay on its side.
I walked past the left side of the library, took a right, and walked past the back of the library, where there has been a lot of construction activity for the past few weeks. Perhaps the construction has been completed, or it was too early for the workers and their vehicles to be there; the area was still littered with Caution cones, tape and other harassing paraphernalia.
I crossed the street and started to walk toward Boylston Street. I heard a male cough behind me. I looked back and saw a man who was probably at least in his late 50’s standing against the side of a building across from the library and smoking a cigarette.
I yelled back “Look at how you think you’re better than me, standing there with your cigarette, doing nothing. Fat, old guy.”
