There is no code anywhere on this page. I don't want to have to mention that, but I'm doing it because there is NO WAY that I'm going to waste any more time today, tomorrow or ever, if I can help it.
If there are typos on the page, that's too bad. I've already more than used up my half-hour allotment here today.

3. Newblog2011: 09/27/11 VT food stamps just told me "We can't FAX anything anywhere because we lost a lot of equipment because of flooding."
I need to have a food stamps card so that I can look for and keep work.
If I can't buy my own food, I will continue to be dependent on day shelters that provide lunch and on overnight shelters that sometimes provide dinner and/or breakfast.
I CAN'T LEAVE WORK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY, OR AT A CERTAIN TIME AT NIGHT, OR ONLY BE THERE AT A CERTAIN TIME IN THE MORNING, SO THAT I WON'T MISS THE MEAL AT WHATEVER SHELTER IT IS THAT'S PROVIDING IT.
I ALSO CAN'T LOOK EVERYWHERE FOR WORK IF I HAVE TO SPEND ALL DAY NEAR CERTAIN AREAS THAT HAVE DAY SHELTERS THAT PROVIDE MEALS.
I ALSO HAVE TO BE BACK AT PLACES SUCH AS THE PINE STREET INN AT A CERTAIN TIME IN ORDER TO BE THERE FOR THE BED LOTTERY; I CAN'T SPEND MY ENTIRE DAY PLANNING WHERE I'M GOING TO GO TO GET A FREE MEAL..
For more than a week, I have been on the phone to food stamps in Boston and in Vermont.
I have left several messages for the food stamps office in Vermont, asking them please to FAX my letter of closure from food stamps in Vermont to the office in Boston so that I can complete my application for food stamps in Boston.
Day after day, I have called the food stamps office in Boston to be told "We haven't received the FAX from Vermont."
It's true that the Vermont food stamps office sent me a letter of closure a few weeks ago; it's also true that I don't have it anymore, because my life is constantly being thrown into upheaval.
It's NOT ANY PROBLEM to send a FAX from one office to another; it's something that anyone would do for anyone, even if the person's life was not in upheaval and all that had happened was that the person lost the letter.
I applied for food stamps in Boston weeks ago, and the worker wouldn't even call me back; most likely she was scared to do so. I had to call the office several times in order to get anyone to handle the application.
I called the Vermont Food Stamps office again a few minutes ago, and was told:
"Unfortunately, because of the flooding, we lost a lot of equipment and nobody can FAX anything anywhere. I can mail you another one if you want."
For more than a week, I've been calling the food stamps office in Boston, trying to find out what's going on, and calling the food stamps office in Vermont, trying to find out what's going on. The food stamps office in Boston has been looking for the FAX, among all of the other FAXES that it gets every day, and they needn't have bothered because it was never sent to them.
I've sat there on the phone at the Women's Lunch Place, day after day, using up phone time that I could have used in some other way, that other homeless people could have used in some other way.
I've had the staff in the resource center looking for the FAX from the Vermont Food Stamps office, asking them please to set it aside for me over the weekend if it got there on Friday, as if the staff at the Women's Lunch Place don't already have enough to do and to keep track of with the 100 to 150 homeless women to whom they provide services from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
All of the numbers in the paragraph I just wrote are as told to me when I asked; they are not code numbers, and nobody at the Women's Lunch Place knows that I'm writing this blog page right now.
I got angry at the person I spoke to at the Vermont Food Stamps office; I absolutely did.
I said "There is NO WAY that nobody in your office can FAX anything because of flooding!"
My voice was raised; she hung up on me.
WASTE OF TIME; in addition to being sordid, it's all a WASTE OF EVERYONE'S TIME!
IT'S GONE TOO FAR!
THIS ALL WENT TOO FAR A LONG TIME AGO!
There were a million other things that I could have been doing, like looking for work, than waiting for a FAX to be sent from the food stamps office in Vermont that that office never had any intention of sending.
I couldn't help getting angry at that woman today; I'd better stop writing about it now, or I will get even angrier.
