1. Newblog2011: 08/04/11 Gannett-owned Times Argus on August 4, 2011--front page
Some of what's on the front page of the Gannett-owned, Barre-Montpelier Times Argus today:
“Barre Semprebon Fund
First $1M in spending outlined
Playgrounds, labor hall, library get money”
First paragraph of that first article:
--"Barre—City councilors went all-in on playgrounds, tossed a life line to the Old Labor hall, and narrowly approved funding for a new program at the Aldrich Public Library as they began deciding how to spend former Barre businessman Charlie Semprebon’s multimillion-dollar bequest to the city where he was born and raised.”
Second on page
Title: “Splash! You’re It”
Picture of a camp counselor with children
Caption: “Campers try to douse councilor (name of camp councilor), center, with water following a water relay game at a Summer Splash day camp run by Community Connections at Calais Elementary School on Wednesday.”
Next title:
“National Life appeals tax assessment”
By Keith Vance: Staff writer
Next title:
“Shumlin wary of radioactive fish”
By Peter Hisrschfeld, Vermont Press Bureau
Next to the “fish” article, there’s a picture featuring two blocks of Cabot cheese
One is a red package of “Smooth Sharp Cheddar,” with the word “Cheddar” cut off after the “C”
The other is a green package of “Monterey Jack Cheese”; it probably says “Cheese,” although it’s cut off after “Che”
The title says: “Agrimark to pay $65,000 over misrepresenting rBST levels”
Along the left side of the front page:
"Inside: Talk of the town"
That directs the reader to page A6.
Next along the side of the front page, there's an article that says:
"Local:
Gov. Shumlin signs an executive order banning the sale of 'bath salt' drugs."
That article is also on page A6.
The next article along the side of the page says:
"Sports:
The Mountaineers take on the Blue Sox in the opening round of the playoffs."
That article is on page B1.
There's the index for the newspaper, and then there's an article in the "Say What?" section.
It begins:
"New York--A peacock with a sense of adventure--and a good sense of direction--has flown back home to New York's Central Park Zoo."

I first started this blogpage at the Department of Libraries, and got the first few sections of it on the page about a minute before the computer there shut off. I've added some more to it since. I created the next blog page about elevator fraud a few minutes before I put the time of publication on this page.
