1. Newblog2011: 09/07/11 Where's my paycheck?
I finally gave up on finding my final paycheck from my last employer. Before I went to stay at the emergency shelter in Lynn, MA, a few weeks ago, I had called the employer and left a voicemail with the address for the Pine Street Inn. That’s where I had been getting my mail sent. When I got to Lynn, I thought I might stay at that shelter, so I called the past employer and left another voicemail saying “I’m sorry, could you please send the check to this address in Lynn?”
I left the Lynn shelter after a few days. I then waited for my check to show up at the Pine Street Inn; it didn’t. I called the Lynn shelter, left a voicemail asking the director to call me if the shelter had gotten my check in the mail, and heard nothing back.
I called the manager at my last place of employment again to ask where she’d sent the check. When she got back to me, she said she’d sent it to the Lynn address postmarked August 16th, 2011.
I called the shelter in Lynn again and left another voicemail for the director saying “If you have received or do receive my check, will you please put the Pine Street Inn’s address and a stamp on it and mail it to that address?”
Days later, no check had arrived.
As of this morning, I knew from my past employer that the check hadn’t been cashed anywhere. I left a voicemail there asking that the old check be cancelled and another one in the same amount be sent to me. I gave the Pine Street Inn address.
