3. Newblog2011: 07/27/11 The shelter: Ongoing Issues, Part 1/The Aldrich Library/Greater Barre Community Justice Center/"GoDaddy.com"
Last night, I got back to the shelter and I noticed that there was a new notice on the bulletin board in the hallway. It had to have been put there by someone on the staff of the shelter. It was a print-out of a forwarded message from the “Reparative Program Coordinator” at the Greater Barre Community Justice Center.
Here’s what the print-out says:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
(e-mailed note from the Reparative Program Coordinator to someone at the shelter before the forwarded message that the Coordinator had sent)
“FYI: Here’s a fun and interactive way for people of all ages to express themselves through poetry. Even if you don’t write poetry, come listen and encourage others to read theirs.
I’ve seen (man’s name) lead Poetry Slams in Brookfield and Montpelier. He’s great at getting all in the audience involved in some way. A nice way to support creativity in the community.

Note: enter the Library through the back door!
All ages will slam at Barre’s Aldrich Library at 6:30 PM on Friday, July 29. Actually, free pizza is served at 6:30, followed by a quick writing exercise, which sometimes yields slammable results, and of course you’re encouraged to bring your best work that can be presented in 3 minutes or less. Should you write something terrific during the7-minute writing exercise, you can choose whether to read from a prepared or brand-new manuscript! Bring your friends and family; this is part of Barre’s weekend celebration!
Hoping to see you there,

As I’ve mentioned before, the Aldrich public library in Barre became ever more vicious and harassing, in addition to being an obvious promoter of youth exploitation.
This morning, I noticed one of the male residents of the shelter looking at the bulletin board. There are some jobs listed on the board at times, and some other information, such as where the free food is throughout the day; however, it’s a resident who’s lived at the shelter for a while. I know, because he told me weeks ago, that he’s not planning to get a job; I suppose it’s possible that he was looking at the free food location list, or maybe he was looking at the Aldrich Library’s latest notice.
I did a Google search on the Greater Barre Community Justice Center. Here’s what the search result says:
