Here's what some of the "Hometown" section of the Burlington Free Press looked like yesterday.
The website for the Young Writers Project says that the Burlington Free Press is "the birthplace of the Young Writers Project" and lists the Burlington Free Press first in the YWP's list of media partners. Everything that has been chosen this week for publication from what grade school students ages 11 to 14 sent in has been used for harassment purposes; there's even a "hanging" line in one of the poems. The next topic that's given to aspiring young writers by the Young Writers Project is "Red."
On the page opposite to the publication of the Young Writers Project, the Burlington Free Press put a full-page ad for the Free Press made up of other harassing covers and advertisements, including an ad for Women's Razors and a front page that had an article about sushi with a big picture and a caption that reads "VISUAL FEAST."
There's a big ad for "Vermont Meat and Seafood Market" on page 10Y, next to an ad for retirement communities at "The Lodge at Shelburne Bay" and "The Lodge at Otter Creek." The page opposite to that has a story about the South Burlington Community Library, which is located at South Burlington High School, above an ad for lighting, including "Recessed Lighting," and a weight-loss ad.
The story on the next two pages, 12Y and 13Y, is about the Salvation Army's Learning Zone in Burlington, which is run by the Salvation Army and Champlain College as a place "to help children from disadvantaged families succeed in school." There are pictures of kids; they're 7, 8 and 9. Their first and last names are given.
On page 18Y is a story featuring a woman and her 2-year-old daughter who has a rare illness called Alternating Hemiplagia of Childhood. At the bottom of the page is an ad for the Burlington Free Press that has a picture of a piggy bank, shaped as a pig, that says "Need Extra Cash?" Next to the pig is an ad that says "Direct Cremation Services." Next to the ad for cremation services is an ad for "America's Largest Replacement Window Company: White Double Hung Window Installed!" Next to the ad for the White Double Hung Window, going on to the next page, there's an ad for Waterlily Spa, and next to the ad for Waterlily Spa is an ad for the Lake Champlain Chocolate "choctoberfest."
Above the ads for Waterlily Spa and Lake Champlain chocolates, there's an article about the Vermont Family Network, about which the article says "Since 2008, Vermont Family Network has helped the community find better health, education and well-being for all children and families with a focus on children and young adults with special needs." Maybe the Vermont Family Network has been watching the situation and thought that since some of the public schools seem to be successfully exerting pressure on the Burlington Free Press not to abuse pictures of their students, it was going to be safe to endorse the Free Press by appearing in it, but that's not the case.
Clover Whitham and Lynn Monty have dedicated themselves to pedophilia for months now, and they have their patron saint in Jim Fogler, the recently hired President and Publisher of the Burlington Free Press.
I realized that I've been getting too involved in the pictures part of this blog; I've been getting as slowed down by the fact that I can put up a lot of pictures as I was getting slowed down by the fact that the venue for pictures with paragraphs is smaller on Friendster. I'm also very tired of doing this and very angry that it has gone on for as long as it has. Right now the photo gallery doesn't reflect everything there is to see and also doesn't have all the pictures in order, but I can't work on it right at this second; I will finish it today or tonight but it might take a while depending on other circumstances.
