6. Newblog2011: 07/27/11 LEAVE ME ALONE!
Last night, the assistant director of the shelter was the overnight staff volunteer. He was out in the common area where donated food gets put on the table; I asked him who had donated dinner, and he said “The Otterman Family.”
I don’t know why he can’t leave me alone.
I handled being upset by saying “Really? Could you please give them a thank-you note from me?”
He said that the Otterman Family hadn’t given their address, that they’d left the food on the porch with the name “Otterman Family” on it. He said he might be able to find the address.
I went upstairs and wrote a thank you note. Here’s what it said:
“Dear Otterman Family
Thank you for your donation. It was really good and very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
A resident of the shelter”
Then I slipped the note under the closed door of the empty staff office.
Writing the note and leaving it for the assistant director to find wasn’t a nice thing for me to do; I was essentially saying “Here’s how to write a thank you note, you vicious, irresponsible, ill-mannered, lewd bigot.”
I repeat; I don’t know why he can’t leave me alone, and I don’t know why he or anyone else who works for or who has responsibility for that shelter encourages other residents there to harass me, either.
