Here are some notes that I took this morning, at the corner of Tremont Street and Boylston Street:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bus that I mentioned yesterday on WordPress looks like this:
--The name KBM GROUP, with the letters “KBM” in pink, the word “Group” in grey, and then a purple background with the words “Knowledge-Based Marketing” in white writing on it, and then the words “Booth 1609.” Maybe I didn’t take a note about the colors used for “Booth 1609;” it doesn’t look as if I did. I tried to take notes about the things that were the most obvious or that seemed to have the most significance.
I think I need to mention here that I’m not going to stop wearing the colors pink, purple, grey and so on; just because there are individuals, groups, governments, businesses etc. who have tried to pervert the meanings of those colors doesn’t mean that the colors are bad of themselves. There are only so many colors in the world, especially if you are so completely broke, and I am so completely broke. There are also some colors I can’t help wearing, such as the orange of the ear protection that is all I have.
On the back of the bus, it says:
“FLAGSHIP”
and
“TRAILWAYS” (in red)
and
“Trailways.com”
There is a Dunkin’ Donuts at the corner of Tremont and Boylston. It was not an atypical morning for the fact that the Dunkin’ Donuts had a Wet Floor sign visible through its front window, near the entrance; most of the Dunkin’ Donuts have Wet Floor signs near their front doors or in the middle of their completely dry floors, all the time. There’s been scaffolding all around that Dunkin’ Donuts for months.
Across from that Dunkin’ Donuts there is a large building which has written on it:
“GRAND LODGE OF MASONS IN MASSACHUSETTS”
There are 4 corners to that intersection. The corner that I was closest to had the entrance to the Boylston Street T, the green line. There was an ad in the window above that entrance that said:
“THE NEW SHARK
AND RAY TOUCH
TANK IS HERE
New England Aquarium”
I’ve mentioned that ad being around Boston before; I started seeing it when I got here a few months ago.
There are signs on the lightposts along Boylston Street to Carver Street, starting from the intersection of Boylston and Tremont. The signs all look like this:
--Two pictures side by side, one of actor Michael C. Hall, of the TV show “Dexter,” and one of a 2-year- old girl. Next to each picture, it says:
“WALK
AS IF YOUR LIFE
DEPENDS ON IT.
WALK
BECAUSE SOMEONE’S
LIFE DOES.”
In the picture of Michael C. Hall, it then says “Michael C. Hall.”
In the picture with the child, it says:
“Eleanor Wood
2 years old, leukemia survivor”
Ms. Wood has very short, very blonde hair; at a glance, you might think her bald. She is wearing a red dress with polka dots on it. She is holding a stuffed animal dog under her arm, so that the dog’s backside is to the camera, and all you see of the dog is its hind legs and upraised tail. The dog is held against her side, so that it is also under the cherries that have been embroidered or printed on her dress.
The rest of the poster is the same on each side. It says:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEUKEMIA &
LYMPHOMA
SOCIETY
LIGHT THE
NIGHT WALK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Those 2 captions are next to each other on the sign.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 13, 2011
Boston, MA –Boston Common
508-810-1342 –LIGHTTHENIGHT.ORG/MA
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Then there’s a list of sponsors. I couldn’t read them all from the posters, which were high up on the lightposts. Some that I could read were:
--Burlington (It’s Burlington Coat Factory; it sells clothes and other products. Today, the “Featured Online Product” on its website is the Malibu Stroller in Aqua, for 299.99”
--Cephalon (a pharmaceutical company)
--Pfizer (Pfizer’s website says that it is the world’s largest research-based pharmaceutical company. Pfizer’s website makes its support for child molestation obvious, from code to the image of a child getting drops put in its mouth in the section called “Pfizer’s diary: Pfizer is giving children of its employees in Russia some added incentive to succeed in school.” Contrary to what many people may think, nobody in my family ever said that any of my ancestors were German. My great-grandparents were from Russia. Lena is a Russian name, for example, and it may be that my father’s family ended up with a German last name by passing through Germany. I don’t know the whole story, but I’m not German to the best of my knowledge.
There are other things on the Pfizer website that reference me, by code or other allusions, and I object to that.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of the poster, it says:
“MAYOR THOMAS M. MENINO”
I need to take a break for a few minutes; writing about these things isn't something I enjoy or that makes me feel uplifted in any way, and I'm taking a break.
@ 4:40 p.m.
I think I'm going to leave this where it is, for today. I don't feel great, in addition having spent the day both observing and writing about terrible things. I noticed today that I seem to be getting a cold.
