6. Newblog2011: 09/23/11 Ads on the bus from Boston to Quincy on 09/14/11
Next are notes I made about signs that were on the free bus to the Quincy shelter from Boston on 09/14/11, at 6:24 p.m.. They are Boston city busses that make those trips.
Sign: Teal background next to picture of a medical waiting room full of people. Woman at the front of the picture is holding a tissue to her nose.
Captions on the teal background:
“GET TALKING
GET TESTED
HIV testing is fast, free and confidential. Many people are making HIV testing part of their medical routine. Now it’s your turn.
For more information, call 1-800-235-2331.
(There are 2 symbols, one possibly for the Massachusetts Dept of Health and one that says Boston Public Health Commission. At the end of the ad it says:
“Massachusetts Department of Public Health”
Another sign on the bus that day:
First line in green, rest in white on black or, at the end, a green background:
“BIG BABY AND BOSTON BOUNTY BUCKS
are teaming up to help you eat healthy for half the price
when you use your EBT card at Boston Farmers’ market.
(picture of 2 food stamps cards, one on top of the other—the one that’s all visible says “BAY STATE ACCESS”)
“To learn more text
“big baby” to 69940!”
www.BostonBountyBucks.com
(in smaller print:
“Boston Bounty Bucks is sponsored by Mayor Menino’s Fresh Food Fund and The Food Project with support from USDA AMS (FMPP G-1156). Boston Public Health Commission, Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness, Walmart Foundation, Whole Foods Market and the Wholesome Wave Foundation.”
(Picture is of a tall, black man in a green shirt that says “Food Project.” He’s holding a watermelon. Behind him are 6 teenagers, both boys and girls, all wearing green shirts that say “Food Project.” They’re all holding vegetables of some kind. One of the girls seems to be holding purple flowers.)
(The note I wrote at the end of my notes about that sign said “I’m not flattered.”)
