3. Newblog2011: 08/31/11 More notes that I took about businesses that seem to show support for child molestation and/or sexual harassment around Boston, MA
More notes from 08/28/11
--Solar trash compactors
It looks as if the first solar trash compactors got put around Boston, MA in 2006. However, I don't know how long the ones that are black instead of green have been there, and I don't know how long the following has been written on some of them:
"HEY
KEEP IT CLEAN
City of Boston -- Thomas M. Menino, Mayor"
At least one that I saw on Newbury Street that had that written on it also said this:
"Sponsored by Newbury Street
The World On A Street"
--Nike on Newbury Street
Written on the glass of the first display window, it says, in large letters:
"TAKE EVERY ADVANTAGE
GEAR UP OR SHUT UP
THE ADVANTAGE OF SUPERIOR GEAR"
The mannequin is dressed in football gear, all black except for red shoes. There's a number 72 on the shirt.
Behind the mannequin, on the left, there is a shirt that says "DRI-FIT" in small letters, paired with shorts that say "NIKE PRO-COMBAT" along the waistband.
To the left, there are two relatively small pieces of fabric, both of which have the number "1" on them. One of them is right side up, in the top right corner of the display, and the other is upside down, a few feet below it.
On the glass in the second window, it says, in large, white letters:
"GEAR UP
OR
SHUT UP"
Then it says:
"TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SUPERIOR GEAR"
There's a large picture of 4, male football players. Their names are listed on the window. I'm going to leave this blog page here, because all I'm doing is reporting an ad that is part of a corporate campaign. I'm not talking to the men, I'm reporting an ad for which they agreed to have their names and images used:
"ADRIAN PETERSON
DARRELLE REVIS
TIM TEBOW
LARRY FITZGERALD"
The third window is a repeat of the first window.
--Ben & Jerry's
A sign on the window:
"Stephen Colbert's
Americone Dream"
In the window, behind two mannequins who look to be likenesses of Ben and Jerry, there's a banner that says:
"All Natural Smoothies!"
The flavors listed are:
"Life's a Beach"
"Strawberry Lemonade"
"Berry Mango"
It also says:
"14 oz. smoothies
250 calories or less"
--Hotel Chocolat, Newbury Street
The website for Hotel Chocolat says that it's a "British Cocoa Grower and Chocolatier." I have a vague suspicion that I've published notes about the store on Newbury Street before. However, on 08/28/11, the window looked the same as it has since I got to Boston and saw it for the first time.
There's a painting, although I hesitate to call it that in this era of everything being computerized. The image is of a large ice cream cone on a beach chair, on the beach. The chair is striped white and red.
The caption says, in red writing lined with yellow:
"GLORIOUS GREAT BRITAIN!
Wish you were here!"
