5. Newblog2011: 10/11/11 Alice Turkel
Also this morning, as I was walking up Mass. Ave., a woman held out a pamphlet to me and said she was running for Cambridge School Committee. I took the pamphlet and read it as I walked.
At the top, it says “Alice Turkel is a parent, a leader, a teacher, an artist and an advocate for student health.”
The section of the pamphlet across which it shows half the “d” of the word “advocate”and then the rest of that phrase at the top, there’s also a paragraph that says:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I admire Alice Turkel’s commitment to high standards and thoughtful school policies. They directly impact young people’s opportunities for success and happiness as they become lifelong learners.”

Below the quote from Ms. Patterson, there’s a drawing that says:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Tasty Choices:
From the Kitchens of the Cambridge Public Schools To Your Home Kitchen
A Collection of Cambridge Public School Recipes by Chef Vin Connelly”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that I were a Cambridge resident. I would NOT vote for Ms. Turkel; it's difficult for me to imagine what would get me to vote for her.
