_I didn’t intentionally look things up at certain times or
report the times at which I had looked things up. I have not put any code in this, in my own
writing, although of course I’m exposing code that others used.
The fact that the times were as I’ve reported them when I would write a sentence such as “this is what the website looked like at (time)” wasn’t the most comfortable fact for me, although it's the kind of thing that can happen when anyone is writing between 10:00 a.m. and 2:59 p.m..

This morning, I walked past some Peter Pan busses.
One of them had an ad for Novartis on the side. It said:

The article is from 2007. It’s from the MIT news website, and, as I've said, was the first thing that showed up on a search of the term "Novartis and MIT."
Here are the first, few paragraphs of it. I put the sentence “Novartis will invest USD 65 million in research activities at MIT over the next 10 years” in bold print.
It’s not possible that, when the article was originally written in 2007, any of the wording in it was being used as code because that situation hadn’t happened yet.
I’ve also included some of the 2011 captions that are on the side of the article online. Here, they show up first, above the article.

MIT and Novartis in new partnership aimed at transforming pharmaceutical manufacturing
Patti Richards, News Office
September 28, 2007
Novartis and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have launched a long-term research collaboration aimed at transforming the way pharmaceuticals are produced.
The 10-year partnership, known as the Novartis-MIT Center for Continuous Manufacturing, will work to develop new technologies that could replace the conventional batch-based system in the pharmaceuticals industry - which often includes many interruptions and work at separate sites - with continuous manufacturing processes from start to finish.
The Novartis-MIT Center for Continuous Manufacturing combines the industrial expertise of Novartis with MIT's leadership in scientific and technological innovation. Novartis will invest USD 65 million in research activities at MIT over the next 10 years.
"This partnership demonstrates our commitment to lead not only in discovering innovative treatments for patients but also in improving manufacturing processes, which are critical to ensuring a high-quality, efficient and reliable supply of medicines to patients. Our collaboration with MIT, a worldwide leader in developing cutting edge technologies, holds the promise to achieve a quantum leap in the production of pharmaceuticals, a field which has received rather little attention in the past," said Dr. Daniel Vasella, Chairman and CEO of Novartis.

I looked at the MIT website today, at 1:48 p.m. The first page includes the same, 2011, captions that had been added to the MIT news website for the story from 2007 about Novartis.
The other day, I was walking along Mass. Ave. and, chalked on the sidewalk across the street from 77 Mass. Ave., were written the words “BEAVER DASH!”
There have been a lot of other issues; Caution cones on the front steps of buildings, by the bus stop that’s just off to the side of the entrance to 77 Mass. Ave., construction equipment sitting in front of the MIT building next to 77 Mass. Ave., surrounded by Caution cones and yellow tape.
Here’s what I found out about tuition and fees to attend MIT, from the website MIT FACTS 2011:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Tuition and Financial Aid Undergraduate Tuition and Living Expenses Nine months' tuition and fees for 2010–2011 is $39,212. Additionally, undergraduate room and board is approximately $11,234, dependent on the student's housing and dining arrangements. Books and personal expenses are about $2,764."

$53, 210. That’s how much it costs for one year at MIT.
I’m not sure how many people who go to MIT receive financial aid. Here’s one, 2010 statistic that I found online (as I wrote this sentence, I heard coughing coming from outside the slightly open window of this basement room. That means that people who walk by the Women’s Center are looking into the windows to see if I’m here and then coughing at me):

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 15, 2011
Very few people get full scholarships to go to any college. That 62 percent of MIT undergraduates referred to in that search result has to refer to people who got some of their fees reduced by MIT, but not anything like the whole thing for free.
Most people who go to college end up with a LOT of debt. Most people have loans to pay off, which they received along with things such as work study on-campus while they were in school.
Here’s what that website had to say about work study. Please notice where it says “$9.50 an hour”: that’s how much someone who is an MIT student, who needs to study, go to class, complete projects, who tries to participate in extracurricular activities and who also does work study as part of his or her financial aid package from MIT can expect to make per hour at his or her on-campus job:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are jobs available on campus? Campus jobs are available in a range of settings including academic departments, administrative offices, research labs and libraries. SFS Student Employment also lists jobs offered by off-campus employers, including summer jobs. The minimum wage is $9.50 an hour for all on-campus jobs, including UROPs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 15, 2011
Most people who graduate from college would be extremely surprised and happy if they were able to pay off their student loan debt by the time that they’re ready to get married and buy a house, or by the time that they're 40. They try to pay off their debt in increments of hundreds of dollars per month, in an employment market that often pays them less than what MIT was offering for its on-campus work-study.
What’s going on is that every female student who goes to MIT is going into debt while being degraded and subjugated to men. It has to be affecting women, including graduate students and teachers, in every way on that campus.
While they’re trying to study and do all of the things I’ve said people try to do in college, they’re being put into debt by a school that is telling them that all women are 2nd class citizens to men. Those women are paying the same amount of money, or accumulating the same amount of debt, as the male students are. I’m sure that whatever gains in equality had been made for women on that campus before the past year and a half, from opportunities for students to salary parity for teachers, are rapidly deteriorating. That’s not even to mention what all of the women must be going through on a personal level, in the classroom, among their colleagues, in dorms, in every extracurricular and social activity. The less powerful they are individually, whether socially or professionally, the worse it probably is.
I’m sure that the same thing is happening on every campus that is involved in what’s been going on.
I looked at the Peter Pan Bus website today, before I started writing this essay. Here’s something that was on it:

The way I tried to do the copyright time on this page today is something I’ve tried to do a few times this week, which is to get the entire thing done to the best of my ability, publish it without a copyright time or notice, look at it to make sure that it’s as good as I can make it, and then put the publication and copyright time after I’ve done those things. My habit is still to publish it whenever I get some or most of it done, and then add editing and addition times; I’ve stopped myself from doing that a few times today. I don’t think my old way of doing it is the best method, as it is both tedious and trivial.
