1. Newblog2011: 09/30/11 "Clean Harbors" trucks followed me to the Women's Center and blocked off the street
I am now at a day shelter for women called the Women’s Center. I was here when it opened, at 10:00 a.m. this morning, and I worked on one of the computers here for a couple of hours.
When I walked out the front door of the place at noon, there was a “Clean Harbors” truck parked in front of the building. One of the men with the truck was talking to other men there about “spots where to put the cones.”
I couldn’t help saying “You’ve got to be f---ing kidding me” as I walked away.
I’ve been back at the Women’s Center for a few minutes. The street in front of the building has been closed. There are three “Clean Harbors” trucks parked in the middle of the street in front of the building, and another one on the other side of the street, on the way here.
The first truck in front of the Women’s Center has a stack of 4 Caution road cones strapped to the front of the truck.
The second truck has a Caution cone in the back of it.
There’s no work going on at all there; when I walked up to the Women’s Center, there was nobody around those trucks and no sign even of unnecessary construction that I’ve seen other places around Boston, such as the road or sidewalk being ripped up for no reason.
