1. Newblog2011: 09/19/11 Harassment in person at the Boston Public Library and other locales
It seems to me that the people who harass me in person, with their irretrievably disgusting (code, for this one occasion), faked coughing, sneezing and vomiting noises, and the other things they do such as rubbing their noses and so on, are people who would already be as badly behaved as they thought they could get away with, anyway. The harassing conglomerate has given people like that encouragement to do the kinds of things that they already wanted to do; it has nothing to do with me, with my morality, or with my behavior past or present.
As I've said, many times, what the harassing conglomerate has done, for its own gain, is called "bringing out the worst in people."
It's difficult to be a nice person; for anyone, that is difficult. It's difficult to have good manners instead of bad ones. It takes effort to be self-respecting and to have some dignity, and it takes effort to treat other people with those things, too.
The harassing conglomerate has been sending out the message to the world, "You don't have to worry about being a decent person anymore," and that's been a great relief to people who either didn't know how to be decent or for whom it always seemed like too much of an effort to make.
